Oh, Memories

So this weekend I made the three hour trek up to Boone with Lauren, knowing full and well that we were going there to help her move into and possibly clean her apartment. I didn't realize until she started packing all of her things and moving them out of my room just how much I loved having her with me this summer. Things were different this summer than last for several reasons, the main one being that her room was stolen by Martin before Lauren could say "Appalachian State University". At the beginning of the summer I was honestly dreading having to share a room with her since we had such a rocky summer last summer that carried over into the remainder of the year. However, when we started locking up to head to Boone with all of Lauren's stuff in tow, it hit me. I have ABSOLUTELY loved being closer to her and having her as my best friend, co-worker, and sister (of course). I promise I wasn't trying to get all mushy and I even kept from crying the WHOLE time! Props to me, this has got to be a first!
My lovely Mother.

The views were breathtaking as usual!

Side note: Move in is only thirteen days away! AHH this is so crazy and I know these next two weeks are going to fly by!

New to the Blogger World

Wow, I am so impressed with the cute blogs I have just seen (thank you Julie Mayo) due to the giveways. One of my favorites is Leigh Ashley's giveaway of the purse. There are so many beautiful pieces but I love the yellow bag she is giving away to one lucky follower. Here is the link for anyone interested: http://leighashley.blogspot.com/2010/07/thank-you-note-and-giveaway.html.

Cookie Catastrophe

So I am not exactly sure what happened to our "homemade Tollhouse cookies" but these definitely did NOT turn out. Kate came over and we were having so much fun while baking them, but when we stuffed them in the oven and returned a few minutes later, the whole kitchen was smokey and the cookies-well, they weren't cookie-looking. Of course, Kate and I went back and tried to figure out where exactly we went wrong. Sugar? Check. Salt? Check. Eggs? Check. Flour? Check. Then we realized, Mom had given us "flour" that actually was powdered sugar. No wonder our cookies wouldn't rise!! We had absentmindedly added over FOUR AND A HALF CUPS of SUGAR! Gross! After we realized that, I felt like I just needed to overdose on fruit, veggies, and anything else healthy I could get my hands on. It was so sad to have my cookie craving crushed by a simple mistake. I'm sure next time I will double check that the flour is flour and NOT powdered sugar.
At least somebody enjoyed our delicious mistake!

Let's start at the beginning, the very best place to start.

So, I have been inspired by Julie Mayo to recreate a blog and start writing again, or should I say START writing. I think the best place to start for this blog is in the beginning, obviously. No, I'm not going to reminisce on times past when I was but a wee child (at least, not in this blog). I feel it is fitting to explain my blog title, "Barakh". I recently started participating in a Beth Moore Bible Study and I honestly do not think I could have made a better decision, since Beth Moore is such a talented woman who is filled with the Holy Spirit. Each week, we meet for a 2 hour session where we discuss the previous week's homework and then watch a video of BM. Let me just say, she makes me think of things that only God could have placed on her heart, and each week I am more blown away by something new. One of the things I love about her is that she will translates several words and puts them in our notes for the week. One word that really stood out to me was "Barakh" because it literally translates "blessed" and nothing fits me better than that. So, this blog is my new Facebook replacement temporarily, and I hope that I can encourage you by the things that I post on this blog, and I assure you, there will be plenttyy of BM quotes and such. There's my warning.
P.S. Move in day is less than 2 months away! Ahhh this is crazy!
